Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines important terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. Should any discrepancies arise between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Dudley Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may apply depending on the vehicle model selected. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you must present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further requirements will be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dudley office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions handled securely by trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was when collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will apply if it is found with less fuel. Late returns may incur extra fees, and it is important to contact us if you foresee a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that arise during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless further coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, improper use, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the advance notice provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Keep in mind that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other high-risk activities is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is also not allowed. Sub-letting to third parties or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it was not manufactured for, nor should it exceed passenger or weight limits. Driving outside the designated geographical areas without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Dudley will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to Terms and Conditions
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
